This is an incredible well-written summary. As I understand it, Nauta faces five counts of concealing or withholding documents and taking part in a conspiracy to obstruct justice. I'm not an attorney but worked with some of the best when in government. Everyone understands the motivation for Nauta (and Trump) to look for ways to delay the trial since their guilt is so obvious. There's a prima facie case here -- they even have video of boxes being moved. But is Nauta also angling for an appeal based on ineffective representation of counsel?

During my nearly 14 years in govt. (OMB and DOD) I held (at peak) TS/SCI with SI (COMINT), TK (TALENT KEYHOLE (satellite products), G (GAMMA, a sub-control system of COMINT), and HCS (HUMINT) tickets. Some of the documents recovered from Mar-a-lago appear to be at levels/compartments even I was never cleared for. This begs several questions: What level of clearance did Nauta hold after Jan. 20 2021 (I suspect none)?; Did Nauta ever deliberately open the boxes and look at the documents (as opposed to his testimony that some boxes had fallen and spilled out the contents)? Is it possible that Jack Smith decides to amend the indicment and add charges (perhaps to increase the pressure). For example, 18 U.S. Code § 1924 - Unauthorized removal and retention of classified documents or material provides for fines or imprisonment for not more than five years or both.
