I am not surprised that the corporate world, and especially the media, has a acceded to the demands of Trump and his Maga crew in suppressing free speech, sanewashing this insane leader and overall demonstrating an incredible lack of principle and courage by their collaboration. What has amazed me is that they continue to do it for someone whose approval ratings are in the 30’s and sinking fast. Are they not aware the majority this country do not believe in the fascist/racist/ economic disaster direction he is taking us? Are they not aware that one year from now the House of Representatives will switch to Democratic control and that two years after that the White House? How are they going to explain their collaborationist behavior when the country is finally liberated from the Maga occupation? The fact is that they will not be able to explain it. The new administration will certainly bring them to account. However, we don’t have to wait that long to demonstrate the power of the people to make them pay for their cowardly collaboration. We merely have to hit them where they are most vulnerable: in their pocketbooks. We do this by not buying their products-and not for a day but until each of them changes their behavior. To that end I would recommend that we Immediately boycott all companies that have demonstrated this collaborationist behavior. These would Include among others:

1 . MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN

2. The New York Times, Washington Post and all mainstream newspapers

3. Amazon

4. Google

5. Target

6. Tesla

7. Meta

In this media/consumer driven age, this boycott will not be easy. But resistance to oligarchal fascism never is. True patriots know this resistance takes sacrifice. Money and the lack of it are the oligarch’s achilles heel. If we keep our money out of their hands they will fold.

Gary, I totally agree with you! 'We The People' need not wait to demonstrate, as you stated. We need to let them know that we WILL NOT BEND THE KNEE or KISS THE RING. They are ALL cowards. and the only reason for their decision to bend to the will of tRump is that the decision makers/owners of these companies are all greedy billionaires, wanting more to add to their coffers. None of them care about those of us who actually put that money in their pockets to afford their life-styles. We ALL need to do our part to make them feel the pinch, and to realize that we WILL NOT sit back and allow this to happen. Boycotting these companies and working together is exactly what we need to do. You are right on target, and we need to do what ever it takes to make them wake up and realize that their choices effect everyone...including them! Thank you for what you wrote, and I will do my part in this fight.

How about Apple? Tim Cook recently gave Trump a plaque sitting on a 24 carat gold base. The plaque had Trump's name engraved on it and said "Made in USA." It came with a pledge by Apple to invest $100 million in US manufacturing. I also read, factuality not yet confirmed, that Apple is teaching its AI to adapt to the Trump world. Falling in line and sucking up to Der Fuehrer.

I still "read" the NY Times, because my local library gave its patrons a way to get all-access for free. I write comments criticizing the Times' reporting and amazingly, they don't get printed. As long as I don't criticize the Times, my comments generally go through. Last week I submitted a number of comments about Kirk. None of them expressed any support for his murder, but they did point out the kind of rhetoric Kirk employed. None were printed. Censorship doesn't apply to non-governmental entities, but it is clear that the Times is not interested in comments that are inoffensive and true, but didn't fall in line to praise a very divisive man. Neither does it want its readers to see comments that point out serious failings in the Times' reporting. Paul Krugman left the Times because of editorial interference in his columns. He said that nothing was ever published that was untrue, but the pressure was to soften the tone, which undoubtedly was directed at the right, Trump, and Republicans. However, the Times did print Ezra Klein's appalling piece stating that Kirk practiced democracy the right way. Yeah, with lies, conspiracy theories, demonizing the vulnerable, bigotry, etc. That's the way to practice democracy. Oops. I just vomited.

You are absolutely correct, of course. But Apple presents a unique challenge. I am reminded of a New Yorker cartoon I saw in the 60’s, prior to the breakup of the Bell Telephone monopoly. It showed a high corporate type speaking through a cup connected with a string to someone far from him. The caption read something like: “…and so then I told them they could take their service and shove it! Can you hear me?” I am afraid Apple’s bill for their craven and spineless behavior will have to wait until 2028 when, hopefully, we will see “Trust Busting” like we haven’t seen since Teddy Roosevelt’s day.

It has been wild watching this story evolve. Nihilism is also a distinct possibility. And just bc Kirk was such a soft target and killing him is ironic and a sick joke. This person was absolutely mixed up and we really shouldn’t be talking about how he speaks for any group of people. That is what has been most irresponsible in the media coverage. I fear these type of shooters are a canary in the coal mine for the hopelessness that many twenty year olds who grew up in this environment are feeling. Obviously most of them don’t become shooters. If you are a twenty year old hang in there. We will get through this.

If only the stuff about transgender people was actually funny. sadly all of that is putting our transgender siblings In Harm's Way every minute of the day. And I love you guys but I don't think that your podcast joking about it is necessarily helping that. So maybe you can devote some time to talking about the ways in which this kind of shit has a direct impact on the trans community on a daily basis and how it makes them unsafe and unable to even leave the house which means they are being driven into the closet and not able to move about the cabin freely ever

A way to effect change is simple. VOTE!!!!!!!! We can talk about protest this and that. But we need to VOTE. What happened after 2016? We voted and what happened in 2020 change. You can’t get change unless you Vote. We didn’t VOTE in 2024 and we see the results in policies we believe in. Why well there were people who said they weren’t voting and were protesting and this is what happened. You lose Michigan and Pennsylvania when people say they aren’t voting. Swing states. So when Americans use thier power and vote we will have change. Voting is our power we must VOTE and effect change. You owe it to your country you owe it to your brothers your sisters your family. Yourselves. Vote in 2026 so you can make sure you get the change you want.

The answer to Joy Reid's question about why those in this kakistocracy and their acolytes act the way they do is provided in the penultimate scene in HBO's movie "Conspiracy." It is a remarkably accurate account of the Wannsee Conference in the winter of 1942, where Reinhard Heydrich and Adolf Eichmann gathered the whole of the Nazi government to make sure everyone was "onboard" with the "Final Solution." At the end of the film, Heydrich relates a story told to him by Kritzinger about what happens when your whole life has as its object only hate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZMuOhuB3Wo

Allison, your statement about Kirk's own words disparaging him is the best statement I have heard or read about why those who fired people for accurately representing Kirk's hateful speech are beyond the pale. It's perfection is not diminished simply because this kind of criticism is too rare and virtually never appears in main stream media. It beautifully exposes the deep rot in our media, especially, in this case, at MSNBC for dfiring Dowd. You may never do better -- that is a perfect statement. The only thing I would change -- Just kidding, If it's perfect, nothing can improve it. I wouldn't change a thing except for claiming I said it, not you. Just kidding again.

"Mathew Dowd was fired from MSNBC simply for saying what Charlie Kirk used to say with his whole chest is disturbing to me. And, if you can't honor a man by quoting him directly because his own words seem disparaging to his legacy, then perhaps you shouldn't try to honor him at all." --

Allison Gill said that not Mason Frichette. His only contribution was to praise its brilliance. But if Allison would sell it to me.... No, forget it!

Wonderful job, Allison.

I'm sure Jeff Bezos is over the moon now that the Post has fired it's last remaining Black columnist. That should make Bezos' daddy over at the White House happy.

Question: Will Trump, who just renamed the DOD, calling it the Dept. of War, and who previously renamed the Gulf of Mexico, the Gulf of America, turn to Camp David nexr. Trump loves to rename things. How long, I wonder, before he renames Camp David. The obvious choice would be the Kehlsteinhaus (the Eagle's Nest). Anyone who doesn't know what that is, should just look it up.
