Sounds like bs to me. I’m sure they want to deport him anyway. This regime has broken more laws than Mr. Abrego. Can we deport them?

They figure he's 'too small', too broke and has no voice that can be heard. Just like me; A nobody. To we nobody's, you can only get as much justice as you can afford in America and that's not some 'new' revelation, sadly.

I came here to say the same thing. Just spirit him and his family away. Even to Costa Rica if he’d prefer that. Just get him away from the clutches and talons of Noem and Bondi.

He would have to plead guilty to charges of a crime he has not committed. It seems the lesser of two evils, but it is a no-win and I fear that they will revoke his privileges at some point if he were to EVER agree to a plea bargain.

This one case reveals so much about what motivates this administration: disregard for the rule of law, deception/dishonesty, arrogance, defiance of judicial rulings, pettiness, indifference to (if not enjoyment of-Noem!) the suffering of others and, of couse, racism.

Mary, for some reason this am, I was not able to comprehend the entire piece. Could you summarize for me? Much appreciated.

The government is playing games with Mr. Abrego's case. He can be deported to Costa Rico if he pleads guilty but if he continues his fight, they will deport him to Uganda as soon as Monday. His attorneys want to pursue the case that this criminal charge is vindictive prosecution and Mr. Abrego wants to fight the deportation, which is his right. DOJ and DHS/ ICE are working together on this even though both claimed to not be able to know what the other would or could do in his situation.

Thanks, Mary. Here’s what I don’t understand. The government is saying he can be deported to Costa Rica if he pleads guilty to what he considers to be a vindictive prosecution, and will be deported to Uganda if he doesn’t. What does the government have to do to deport him in either case? Give him 48 hours notice he is being deported? In which time, Abrego can challenge the deportation order in court?

He is following the Constitutional provisions and as I understand it, the government cannot deport him without his right to contest the deportation happening first. Due process is required. I do not have faith that ICE will follow the law. I foresee them barging in the door Monday with a dozen goons and taking him to an airport.

All this work time and money to try to kick one man out of the 340 million of us out of our country defies rational explanation.

I am way more likely to be injured by one of 5 registered sex offenders living within less than a mile from my home than I am to be harmed by Mr. Abrego.

If Noem has evidence of all her claims, then show it in court.

Otherwise she should get over herself and let this man she has vilified, had tortured and mentally scared live his life here with his family.

And at no point are we discussing the fact that the government is threatening to deport him to one of two third party countries? I have always been under the belief that immigrants were deported to their country of origin. Was this third country expulsion ever done before felon#47? Why isn’t that the battle?
