That the American voters betrayed Jack Smith is the one thing I cannot forgive.

MollyWhitebear's avatar

I think the ones who betrayed Jack Smith were the ones voting MAGA. That was not even half the total voters in the country.

Late Blooming's avatar

They won, and it's winner take all in this country.

jibal jibal's avatar

That's a dishonest retort to Molly's statement.

The 2020 election is over. Dems lost. If you extrapolate more than that from what I wrote, I suggest you learn not to assume, or to read.

Over and out.

Ruth Armstrong's avatar

… as well as the people who didn’t bother to vote.

Dawna Stromsoe's avatar

Molly, I think those who were too lazy or complacent to vote also hold responsibility for the shit show we’re all living in.

I am still upset that AG Garland put off and put off the investigation -- till 2022 -- when he HAD to have known that wasn't adequate time to get it taken to trial. He's never said what his thinking (or lack of thinking) was. I wish that the evil Itch MacDonald had done the right thing and allowed Garland to become a Justice on SCOTUS. His wishy-washyness would have been good in a Justice, but it was very bad in an AG.

SPW's avatar

I believe you mean “that evil itch McConnell”. Slight difference.

Joe Jones's avatar

Yeah, but in this day and time, misspelling is probably prudent. We knew who they were talking about. Time for code words also.

PatchyGroundFog 🐎's avatar

Thanks for that. I had no clue who McDonald was. In Substack, you can edit. FYI

kdsherpa's avatar

No desire to edit. The name is deliberate. My comment above: I used to call him "Old MacDonald", as in Old MacDonald had a farm. I changed it and put itch instead of Old. He deserves nothing more. For reference, I refuse to call our prezzinitwit anything other than "the orange pedophilic sadist". I started in 2016 during the repugnicant debates when I was shocked at his pleasure in humiliating his opponents (and equally shocked that the moderators said not a word). It's been "the orange sadist" since 2016. I added the "pedophilic" part in recent months since the Epstein case has been in the news. These names are survival mechanisms for me.

MollyWhitebear's avatar

Just saw Jimmy Kimmel had an awesome new name for the orange twit...El Presidemente. LOLOL! It SO fits him too!

Biden should've replaced Garland

MollyWhitebear's avatar

He definitely should have! And it wasn't because he didn't even think of it or that it wasn't suggested to him! The whole Internet kept telling him to replace Garland! It really just PISSED me off so bad but didn't surprise me that he didn't. He was always the corporate man in Congress. Always sidling up to the Repubs and many times to the detriment of We The People of the Middle Class.

kdsherpa's avatar

Yes, his "across the aisle" behavior as a Senator worked years ago. But the fact that he continued to do it in this horrifically partisan period of time did a terrible thing to our democracy.

jibal jibal's avatar

Lots of things should have happened.

PilatesYogagurl's avatar

I think Garland was compromised and complicit. Period

kdsherpa's avatar

That Biden didn't kick him out a year earlier is (another) one of the things that Biden really screwed up. (The other HUGE screw up was not resigning in January, as he had promised. We could have won that election.)

Paula Simmons's avatar

Article by Mehdi Hasan. I can’t find the original on the Guardian website, but if you tap on the link, you’ll see the article. “Joe Biden had one job, and he failed.”

kdsherpa's avatar

Superb article. I must disagree with Hasan on one point, however: Biden may be the THIRD worst President in his lifetime. He left out ronnie reagan -- the first in line for destruction of democracy. (I also have to question whether dubya was worse than Biden. What about the totally unnecessary Iraq war?)

Merrick Garland and Jack Smith were asleep at the wheel for nearly two years. I know people made serious and credible reports related these things to the DOJ and FBI and they and nobody from these agencies ever even tried to follow up on these leads. I find this feigned helplessness quite incredulous.

kdsherpa's avatar

Jack Smith? He worked furiously -- once Garland FINALLY, FINALLY appointed him. The fault lies entirely with Garland (and Biden).

jibal jibal's avatar

Jack Smith was never asleep at the wheel.

YES!! He's as much a traitor as trump

MollyWhitebear's avatar

McConnell is a US Senator. FYI He was not the Speaker of the House. 2019-2020 was Nancy Pelosi. After her SOH was Kevin McCarthy.

jibal jibal's avatar

He was Majority Leader and Minority Leader of the Senate.

kdsherpa's avatar

No, I mean what I wrote. I follow in Jeff Teidrich's footsteps by giving new names to people whose actual names I will never speak because my mouth feels dirty afterward. Cathy Hinnebusch's avatar

There are soooo many things I will never forgive.

Barbara Dillard's avatar

No we didn’t how do you figure?

Gisele Dubson's avatar

Because a bunch of Dems stayed home on Election Day.

Barbara Dillard's avatar

Haha your not up to date, that’s not true. It was a record year for voting. We didn’t vote for Trump Elon Did he cheated to keep him out of jail election truth alliance has been checking the data in the voting machines. They have found manipulation and purged votes and missing votes. There’s another place smart elections. They’ve been investigating this elections since November they’ve been to court twice with proof Trump did not win, they go back to court November 11 with proof. Trump only got one third of the votes. In rockland County, New York, he didn’t win Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and I don’t know which others, but you might wanna Google them and check it out. Get caught up

Regina foucht's avatar

I’ve been following this since kamela lost! ! I have searched recently for any “updates on 2024 voting election fraud . Nothing was coming up! It was very frustrating and a tad suspicious! 🤨 Thanks for the update! I know it was stolen!

Barbara Dillard's avatar

Check them out Lulu that is doing the investigation with smart elections. Said she has enough to take the whole administration out. You can also look up the common coalition.

Kelso's avatar

FYI: You can get into all the details of 'the theft' right here on Substack @This Will Hold

Barbara Dillard's avatar

You can look up election truth, alliance, or smart elections, the common coalition, Greg Palast he’s an investigative reporter.

Cathy McCarthy's avatar

Because the Dem leader did not and still aren’t questioning the 2024 election results!🤬Why is the Rockland County NY review stalled? Where are the Dems in NY and at the national level not howling to have this done ASAP?

Barbara Dillard's avatar

It’s not stalled they first saw a judge and showed them their proof. He said they have enough proof to go to court so they got a court date went to court and they got approved to continue on. That’s when they go November 11 in Rockland county New York it showed zero votes for Harris. They have affidavits from people that voted for her there. It takes time to get a court date, but at least they’ve got one.

MollyWhitebear's avatar

SHEESH. At this snail's pace tRumpenstein will be dead and long gone by the time this case is ever heard, ffs! SO exasperating.

Barbara Dillard's avatar

Oh I know just seems like it takes a long time but they had to investigate check out the machines do research that takes a little while

Cathy McCarthy's avatar

This probe started months ago! They stalled it first by forcing it to go to the My court. That was concluded months ago. Now we’re waiting till November? What will they concoct next to push it further into the future?

Barbara Dillard's avatar

First they showed the judge their proof. The judge said they could go to court. They went to court and got approved to move on so now they go again, November 11. You can’t get a court date like for the next week they’re lucky they got one this soon

Barbara Dillard's avatar

Cathy smart elections is appealing the courts decision they got more information in Rockland County New York

Cathy McCarthy's avatar

That’s great news! Thx! Let’s hope this triggers every one of the manipulations an extortion of the 2024 election! I truly believe it was stolen and our suffering in 2025 has been based on an easily proven crime of epic proportions!

PatchyGroundFog 🐎's avatar

Dems didn't necessarily stay home. Votes were manipulated. Election Truth Alliance has been diligently finding the problems and getting the receipts ready. Hopefully the states will do recounts and/or paper ballot recounts.

Colette B's avatar

Yes, it was a record year for turnout and a little over a third of eligible voters did not vote in '24. Yes, I believe there was interference.

I googled "Was 2024 a record year for turnout?" and this article came up. It's statistics, very long and very detailed, but for anyone who's interested, you can scan the section headings you can find all sorts of interesting breakdowns.

But I'm a nerd, so there's that. I know there are better ways to spend a Sunday morning. Step away from this and do something positive for yourself.

Barbara Dillard's avatar

Elon helped him cheat to stay out of jail. If you paid attention to the rallies, she filled a whole stadium. It was packed and people were waiting outside. Trump could barely fill a high school gym and still had empty sections and people walking out. They changed the software in the voting machines. Remember at his rally he says I don’t need your vote. I have plenty. I have more than anybody’s ever had and we have a little secret. Their little secret is he cheated? When has he ever done the right thing his life is a lie.

TanyaFella's avatar

Hello Collette, this is very helpful. Thank you. As for nerds, they tend to be the ones who enrich my life, and you are now one more example of that.

kdsherpa's avatar

I'd forgotten! MILLIONS of Bernie's people, mostly young, stayed home.

MollyWhitebear's avatar

Sorry, but I do NOT believe that's true that it was millions of Bernie young people who didn't vote. We don't know for sure WHO it was that stayed away from the voting booths last year.

Dominique's avatar

The voters did not betray Smith, we voted for Kamala in mass, Trump with help from Elon and others STOLE our Election, his presidency is illegitimate and Garland knew and did nothing! The audits are still being conducted but proof is out there now if you look!

Alan Surratt's avatar

The biggest mistake was made by Garland. He should have arrested him day one on January 6th.

Linda Just's avatar

I agree! Wimps, Smith and Garland both could've saved our democracy had they had the freakin" balls!

Jack Smith, American hero - enough said.

Barbara Dillard's avatar

Yes I felt bad he collected all the evidence and couldn’t use it because Trump delayed and delayed court

Lynn's avatar

Not TFG. The corrupted white supremacist Supreme Court. THEY delayed their opinion to give him maximum protection.

They must be removed.

Charlotte Markey's avatar

Supreme Court is completely responsible for the lawlessness of Donald Trump! They gave him full immunity to be an authoritarian and are now complicit in letting him trample on our free speech, an amendment of the constitution!

Sabina Bryant's avatar

Exactly. DA Fani Willis was ready to go with her RICO case & look what happened. We look so weak compared to Brazil & South Korea.

Late Blooming's avatar

Yeah, and I “must” win the powerball too

Lynn's avatar

Oh I get the cynicism.

However with powers granted to the oval by this Supreme Court, really nothing is beyond the pale for the next Democratic president.

If only this person wields it.

Late Blooming's avatar

Time will tell. Imperial presidencies can work both ways, but Dems need to get their approval rating out of the teens first

Lynn's avatar

Need much better leadership.

Randall Livingston's avatar

We have gone far past irony, but it’s worth noting Trump**, the master of delay, is irked because criminal trials don’t happen quickly enough.

Donna Love's avatar

Trump doesn’t want his targets for prosecution to even get due process.

Late Blooming's avatar

Pfft. Because Garland had his thumb up his ass trying not to look “political” for 2 years until the 1/6 committee shamed him. What a useless POS he was

Linda Just's avatar

Failed the American people

Candy C's avatar

Jack Smith is an honorable man, a truth teller. He did all he could to see justice done, not for his own ends, but for the country he served. He was betrayed by the courts including the highest court in the US. His heart must break knowing what he does and watching the DOJ abandon the rule of law.

Morgan 🌲's avatar

Well said. I’ve felt for him having to endure the mob presidency. I was so glad to have him and had so much confidence in his abilities.

Thank you Special Counsel, Mr. Jack Smith! You brought sunlight where there was fog. You did a stupendous service for the American Populace. I actually screamed when the “Orange Miscreant” aka trump—went FREE. You were correct in all of your polemics as a seasoned DOJ prosecutor. You are to be applauded and I will never forget what you’ve done for We The People! Again, thanks ever so much, Mr. Smith. You are the epitome of righteousness and courage, SIR.

Andrew J. Tessman, in the Washington Post 9/20/25:

“As a former federal prosecutor who investigated and tried mortgage fraud cases, I know what it takes to prove bank fraud in court. I know the statutes, the evidence, the witnesses and the burden prosecutors must meet to secure a conviction. So I can say with complete confidence that the recent criminal referrals made by the Trump administration against Sen. Adam Schiff (D-California), New York Attorney General Letitia James (D), Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook and other perceived political opponents are more than merely legally insufficient. They are a sham — a political hit job disguised as law enforcement.”

Susan Cooper's avatar

Per WaPo 9/20/25 ("Replacement Named for Va. Prosecutor Ousted Over Probes of Trump Foes"): "Trump, addressing Attorney General Pam Bondi directly in a post to social media Saturday, specifically linked Siebert’s ouster to the decision not to pursue charges against James and Comey. He called on Bondi to move on those cases swiftly — a remarkable indicator of the erosion of traditional fire walls that have existed between the White House and Justice Department decision-making."

The Justice Department under Garland waited far too long to bring you in. Trump should have been arrested on January 7, right after the insurrection.

Susan Cooper's avatar

From the New York Times 9/20/25 (“Trump Justice Dept. Closed Investigation Into Tom Homan for Accepting Bag of Cash”):

“Tom Homan, who was later named President Trump’s border czar, was recorded in September 2024 accepting a bag with $50,000 in cash in an undercover F.B.I. investigation, according to people familiar with the case, which was later shut down by Trump administration officials… Mr. Homan’s encounter with the undercover agents, recorded on audiotape, led him to be investigated for potential bribery and other crimes, after he apparently took the money and agreed to help the agents — who were posing as businessmen — secure future government contracts related to border security, the people said. After Mr. Trump took office this year, Justice Department officials shut down the case… Kash Patel, the F.B.I. director, and Todd Blanche, the deputy attorney general, said in a statement on Saturday that the investigation ‘was subjected to a full review by F.B.I. agents and Justice Department prosecutors. They found no credible evidence of any criminal wrongdoing.’ They added that the Justice Department ‘must remain focused on real threats to the American people, not baseless investigations. As a result, the investigation has been closed.’”
