I truly cannot imagine how devoid of compassion and a soul you have to be to confiscate children's letters and drawings. And I'll bet at least some of the monsters that did that went home to their own children at the end of the day. It is truly inconceivable to me. :(

This is low even for ICE but they have no limits as to how many human rights and Constitutional rights they will violate. ๐Ÿ—ฝ๐Ÿ’”

The cruelty is the point

Cruelty is the point in everything done in this administration.

Thank you for doing this! These letters speak to the conditions in these detention centers, and will likely provide evidence of human rights violations. They need to be preserved to help lawmakers make change now, and also for historic documentation.

How cruel and heartless can these despicable excuses for humans be?

Thank you for your FOIAs.

As a parent/grandparent, this breaks my heart, as it should everyone! ๐Ÿ’”

This sounds more like Nazi Germany than a large supposed โ€œdemocracy!โ€

thank you very very much for filing the foia request ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

I understand that they are destroying all the ones they took, and not providing any writing materials to anyone anymore.

They are cutting off these children from the outside world.

We need these concentration camps closed and these kids/families brought home to their US communities.

How sad. How sad. How sad. ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Unconscionable pretty much sums it up. And this is the outfit that the Republicans, and Jefferies, Schumer and others want retrained, revamped, reformed, ostensibly to make them more palatable. Oh, please give me a break. ICE needs to be defunded, dismantled, demolished, and destroyed. Wiped off the face of the earth. These monsters aren't even human.

I hate Orange, his entire Cabinet, ICE, half of SCOTUS, most of Congress, and peeps across the country like my next-door neighbor. I've never hated so much in my life! Children should have as innocent an upbringing as is humanly possible. And right now, they are being failed by humans. Well, subhumans.

Judy B.'s avatar

Agree - I've also never hated so much, nor have I ever cried over the news on a daily basis. I am 83 years old and have seen a lot of political garbage in my lifetime, but never have I witnessed such cruelty and danger in the US. This is only the beginning I fear, and although I'm glad to be old, I hate what's in store for our young. I have a nine year old great grandson. What kind of world will he see as an adult (if the humans are still here).

Kathy Maas's avatar

Yes, it's so sad. This country has always had its dark side of cruelty and inhumanity but now there is no attempt to hide it. For as bad as social media can be, the fact that we have so any people recording things is good, as we won't be solely reliant on textbooks written by "certain people" for historical info. Let's hope that we can defeat this monsterous regime asap so that your great grandson and all the youngies (and us, too!) can have a good future.

Judy . . . I feel the same way. I'm pretty close to your age and this is the worst i have ever seen it. And I've seen a lot. And yeah, I don't expect to live long enough to see it through. And that saddens me. To have to die in this mess. I don't have grandchildren but I have a nephew with two boys, and extended family with up-and-coming grand and great grand children. What's to become of them?

nothappynow's avatar

And this bothers DHS because these children are telling the truth about how they're being treated and their families why is this happening I feel like it's a f****** concentration camp it is a concentration camp at least they're not putting them in ovens yet disgusting I'm ashamed to say I'm an American right now

Francesca Cee's avatar

Not putting them in ovens... that we know of.

nothappynow's avatar

Isn't that disgusting that we have to be concerned that of course they're not putting them in ovens but everything else they're doing to him seems to go okay for everyone well not for me

Francesca Cee's avatar

Yes but where are they??? There are thousands of missing people

MollyWhitebear's avatar

AMEN!

I did read either on AP or Reuters that some of the new concentration camps they are building now will have bio-hazard incinerators, though. For cremations! If they are allowed that, then we will NEVER know what happened to missing people!

Francesca Cee's avatar

I read that too and promptly put it in a compartment of my brain so I wouldn't have to think about it. I honestly think there are already extermination camps. I know that sounds crazy but so is everything else they're doing. If you told me 20 years ago that we'd have a gestapo, I would have laughed at you. But here we are!

MollyWhitebear's avatar

Remember there are at least 1500 detainees unaccounted for from Alligator Auschwitz in FL!

Marianne Gould's avatar

According to local newspapers in San Antonio, the letters were burned after they were confiscated. As I understand it, local clergy were communicating with the children so some of them may have letters that got out before ICE intervened.

Susanna J. Sturgis's avatar

Don't forget Jim Crow, please. Or the antebellum U.S. South. Keep reminding people that the race laws of Hitler and his cronies were inspired by the U.S. South.

Change Champion's avatar

Yes so true. I never knew that until recently. Our history education growing up is so whitewashed. Never even knew about black wall st or juneteenth until George Floyd was murdered and more stuff came out

Francesca Cee's avatar

And a lot of amoral cultists are telling us we're being hyperbolic by saying the regime is acting like nazis. Just because we don't have extermination camps yet (that we know of... thousands of missing people) doesn't mean this isn't nazi behavior

Evidently tRump is because he's been a life long criminal and NEVER has had to spend even a second behind bars. Always getting preferential treatment. And, though he's a 34 count convicted felon, he got off scot free due to the judge chickening out and NOT issuing a sentence on him just because he had just been elected president! WTF!?

It's just so enraging!
