My only beef with all the coverage is that the amount should not be rounded up in this case. The fact that it's $1.776 billion is significant. They chose that number for a reason: to tie it to "patriotism". We should not let anyone forget that trump and maga have marketed Jan 6 insurrectionists as "patriotic" and this money is paying them off for the past and probably for the future.

For that reason, I’d say we should never use that exact number, and always round it up to $1.8 billion, just to deprive them of gratification over their misuse of ‘1776’! They should never use or benefit from any reference to the (first) American Revolution since they are traitors. They should see what MAGA BS they can name after Benedict Arnold.

They shouldn’t receive a single dime. If anything, they all should’ve been prosecuted, not pardoned and left to face the consequences — it was a coup attempt, plain and simple. Handing out pardons and payouts only sends a dangerous message to Trump’s loyal followers: answer his battle cry, and you’ll be rewarded instead of held accountable.

It's the response to that shirtsleeve "patriotism" that induced the rounding up. I'd call it $2Byn myself.

The media should be playing those violent J6 videos all day every day. Then talk about the 🤡 pardoning and rewarding them with millions of TAXPAYERS’ dollars.

Penny Laneheart's avatar

The MAGA media won’t be playing any J6 tapes, unless it’s to rub our noses in the fact they got pardons and payment! 😖

Donald Trump and Todd Blanche—his personal lawyer acting as an interim Attorney General—are trying to establish an illegal slush-fund to compensate Republican felons for the inconvenience of being arrested, prosecuted , convicted, and imprisoned. The $1,776 billion slush fund—to be created by taxing the American people—is eye candy designed to divert attention from the most outrageous half of the illicit policies the two Fascist are trying to establish.

Trump’s personal (and very corrupt) Department of Justice issued a memo stating the IRS is “forever barred” from investigating tax returns of President Trump, his family, company, and related companies.

Faced with overwhelming disapproval by both Democrats and Republicans, Trump and Blanche offered to “reluctantly” give up the slush fund. However, they are unwilling to sign an agreement to confirm their verbal offer.

It appears that their top priority is to retain the “stay out of jail card” for “President Trump, members of his family, executives in his company, and owners, board members and executives of all related companies?” A “stay out of jail card” is a license to steal with unlimited financial potential for the Trump Family Crime Syndicate.

A supermajority of Americans insist that the courts must block both crimes—the “slush-fund” and the “stay out of jail card.

I will search for a way to support Dunn and Hodges if they need help to pay their legal fees. Their bravery on that day was inspiring. I want them to know we are standing with them.

Thanks. I found this website. Harry Dunn is running for Congress in Maryland. I just made a donation to his campaign. Here is the website. https://harrydunnformd.com/

Thank you for the link, donation done. Does anyone know if they have a go fund me for the legal costs?

Would be a great legacy for someone to take this case on pro bono. This 1776 'fund' is an abomination!!

Thank GOD for both Harry Dunn and Daniel Hodges!! Thank you Allison for ALWAYS being on top of uber important news like this. Your reporting and sharing is top notch! 💓

I hope them success.

Good! They HAVE to win! I've heard that 93 Democrats have joined an amicus brief that would block this obscene BS! The Congress is supposed to hold the purse strings NOT d j tRUMP!

Yet another blatant trampling of the Constitution and many, many laws. This slush fund, with no effective oversight or guardrails, is wrong on so many levels: most importantly, it says it’s ok to attack police officers and disobey the law.

Julie Ford's avatar

It's very this out there to give them the support they need to accomplish this.

The slush fund to J6ers will embolden them to do it again. It was a seditious act of treason and they should all be held accountable not rewarded

One of the terms of the "settlement" is various immunity for #vonshitzenpants from any future tax audits and other unrelated issues. How the hell is that legal? Is there even precedent, has any taxpayer, let alone a government employee or elected official, ever been granted such immunity?

So sick of this fucking #grifterinchief and his extra legal bullshit.

Should this be a class action suit? There are hundreds who were directly harmed, including legislators, in addition to law enforcement. Also, how can trump or blanche just order the Treasury to release $1.8 billion without congressional approval? Can’t the Treasury just say “no”, and if trump’s Secretary does it anyway, can’t he be held criminally liable? This doesn’t make sense, without a legally based settlement. There must be some more ways to prevent a president from cleaning out the Treasury!!

This must be stopped, if for no other reason than the precedent it could set for future use by other seditious criminals.

Leonardo Garcia Venegas is an American who has been arrested/detained 3 times by ICE, despite having citizenship documents. Can he sue for a pantload from this fund? Will someone please try pro bono??

Deborah solleveld's avatar

Let us know if he sets up a go fund me for the legal costs.

Thank you for this clear and concise report. This gives me hope. The MSM makes it sound as though all is lost. What a terrible period we are living in right now.

I'd like for every person living in the United States to apply for damages. Every one of us has been affected by the January 6 insurrection. Let's just open up the flood gates.

Can we all join in class action lawsuit???

My thoughts as well

I really hope the judge rules that they have standing. Regardless, hopefully the judge assigned will stay the implementation of the slush fund until after the midterms. When we can pass legislation to shut this down. I’m still just as furious today over the announcement of this slush fund as I was on Monday. I’ve called my congressman twice.😡😡😡😡😡

Thankfully some do have standing since dem politicians seem to just be standing around and making very boring statements. trump's corrupt and criminal AG couldn't answer whether a pedophile who was part of the trump j/6 mob who was pardoned and them subsequently was found guilty of additional child molestation would be eligible for the fund. But trump, as the best friend of Epstein, would have no issue giving untold rices to convicted pedophiles, And amazingly, maga voted against Thomas Massie who wanted to see pedophiles punished for their crimes but mage voted to encourage sex trafficking crimes by voting against Massie in last night's primary. maga: the party of pedophiles, criminals, and cranks. In even my low expectations of maga, did I think they would become the party with a pro pedophile agenda.
