Thank you. I regret being old enough to remember when Blagoivech selling a Senate Seat was considered a scandal and corruption.

I remember the abuses of Nixon and (of course) Agnew, and I also remember those who stood up to and exposed them, in the administration (Elliot Richardson was from my home state of MA, as was Archibald Cox), in the states (check out Rachel Maddow's BAGMAN if you haven't already, on how Agnew was exposed by the staff of the US Attorney for Maryland, a Republican), and in Congress. Can you imagine any Republican in Congress today having the courage of, say, Sen. Howard Baker (R-TN)?

The republicans of today would sell out their own mother to support trump and stay out of trouble. It's really quite disgusting how little respect they have for the office and the American people.

The good ole days; I thought I had imagined them.

Bove better not get confirmed. He has no respect for the law.

Katy Did's avatar

Unfortunately, it would seem his lack of respect for the law is a feature, not a bug.

When I was in practice, my boss would have required me to make a complaint to the Bar Association if I had heard another attorney tell his subordinates to lie to the court, or outright refuse to comply with court orders. And we knew our judges had ethical duty to do the same.

Disbarment. Prosecution in 2029.

Thank you for sharing this information and for reporting it clearly, as always. I'm an attorney, and I'm incensed that ethics means nothing to these people. Bove and Ensign should be disbarred, no matter what state or district they come from. Every day there is more erosion of the Constitution, ethics, the Supreme Court's legitimacy and judicial ethics, and erosion of due process in general. I've been an attorney for 45 yrs and have never had an ethics complaint. Why can't these people be held accountable for theirs? They absolutely should. It's disgraceful -- all in the name of sucking up to the number 1 con man in the world.

What is your opinion on why the American Bar Association (or any state bar association) is either hesitant or unwilling to take action against blatant illegal/unethical actions by members? ABA’s lawsuits against the Trump Admin have been somewhat hopeful, I guess, but why not take action against individuals more than they have been? Or am I missing something?

I am not a lawyer, obviously. I am a 10 year prior federal employee with the VA who was removed twice for speaking truth to power. The last time was under Trump’s first administration. I ended up getting awarded backpay and the finalization occurred within a 20 day countdown before Trump’s second go-round. I am just very curious about why our collective professional boards and associations are not doing more to hold everyone accountable.

I do understand many reasons why. Just like so many people kept their heads down when I fought. Just like legal firms have bowed down and settled with the bully….I get it. The blackmail, threats in many forms, etc. I was (and still am) hoping that professional organizations will do their damn jobs. (Whether it matters in this context remains to be seen but the professional organizations must adhere to the standards they dictate we all must abide or it ALL crumbles).

November needs a swift rejection on his appeals court appointment.

Please tell us Mr Reuveni has hired private security...?

And private and personal counsel!

I hope they sanction the hell out of Bove!

Are they ever going to get those poor men out of CECOT?

And nothing will happen. There is zero accountability with this disgustingly corrupt administration. They have destroyed any guardrails that might keep in some semblance of decency. But felon47 and his idiot minions don’t know the meaning of the word “decency.” This is just one of so many cruel and horrible acts this admin continues to do.

Lewis Dalven's avatar

They know the meaning alright…it’s a word they accuse Democrats of lacking.

Good information about the DOJ and not surprising considering tRumps arrogance but only a king has proclamation's tRump has executive orders words matter I know this is a nitpick, tRump is a fool not a king 🙄.

This account turned my stomach. The bold audacity of this administration to give “instructions “ to ignore court orders took my breath away. I know they are criminals, us “lefties” throw that term around often knowing it’s true but without absolute evidence. This whistleblower has confirmed it. I will pray for him and his family. He will not escape the wrath of this administration for telling Americans the truth. I know we wish there were more brave souls out there who have proof of their corruption who would come forward. Maybe this will prompt others to do so.

Thomas Thompson's avatar

What's different about this? Outside of the meeting and Bove's reprehensible comments being repeated, nothing is any different from any other day in Trumpland. We're being governed by a criminal gang!

They should all be disbarred and sanctioned. But of course the GOP will likely just call the whistleblower a liar and force the nomination thru. Shameful.
