I laughed when you said you were glad you were 50 and not 20 because my husband and I are so distraught over living in a fascist country that we are always saying how glad we are that we are in our 70s!

It's cool you said going to be at the polls. This is my second official year as a polling official. I am a lighter skinned Hispanic woman with a thick Texas accent in NoCal. But I will help out every time I can in this environment because I know it's the right thing to do right now.

For a very well grounded and timely analysis of how those of us in rich sane blue states came to be sending our tax money to the feds for redistribution to the delusional ignorant, hateful, misogynist, racist religious fanatics in red states and how the whole system and its underlying assumptions are increasingly unsustainable, see this 1 September 2025 paper by Timothy Snyder. Excellent. It’s time for our blue state governors to reassess and find a way to leverage our largess to the lazy, lying, arsehole red states — or cease it altogether. Just think what could be done in CA and WA and NY and IL with all the taxes our citizens send to the entitled wackos in KY, TN, AR, and WV, who are anyway just ‘donating' it to the greedy child-abusing rapist ‘pastor’ of their local grifting megachurch: affordable housing, drug addiction and mental health help, investment in alternative energy, good public schools … Why are we giving it to those brainless vaccine-refusing idiots who just think they deserve it without strings attached but loathe us all the more? Enough. I ran out of sympathy for red states quite a few squares back. Cut ‘em off.

RED states WANTED Trump. This is now what has happened b/c of that. No one is ignoring that. I for instance, sign petitions for that almost each day. Women in Red states will have to travel now to get help in Blue states.

I trust you do NOT mock Senator Chuck Schumer for sending petitions and letters to trump admin since your own actions are getting petitions ?

He can not spend money that Congress has not appropriated to change the name of DoD to War Dept, which never was the prior name for DoD. Dept of War was the US Army with the Army Air Corps (Air Forces) until the National Security Act of 1947 split the Dept of War into Depts of Army and Air Force. The Depts of Army, Air Force and Navy (since 1798) were joined together into the National Military Establishment. The Act was then amended in August 1949 and the National Military Establishment became the Department of Defense; The Depts of Army, Air Force and Navy also ceased being Cabinet level positions and became subordinate to the Secretary of Defense.

Have either of you read pp 1-25 and 83 (pardons) of Government's Motion for Immunity Determinations. This is probably as close as Trump will ever get to a trial for his orchestration of January 6th. I doubt he will be capable of standing trial once he leaves the White House. You can best find this on the NYU Schooll of Law website Just Security.
