Allison, I understand why you posed the question the way you did, but I still cringe when anyone refers to Kilmar Abrego's deportation to Honduras as a "mistake." I may be wrong, but I simply don't believe anything the Trump administration says about anything without independent, credible support from a source I do trust.
I don't believe that they made a mistake. I think they simply did what they wanted to do, which is what they virtually always do, and when they were caught they fell back on the lie that, oops, it was a mistake.
Great Stuff Guy's !! When THAT Guy !! Sue's The Government !! With God Knows How Many Law Suits !! 😮😮 For Damages !! 😞 I'd Hope With THIS ! Lawless DOJ THEY Find A Way ! Pirro couldn't put a case together, but my impression is that Pirro would have trouble putting together a two piece jigsaw puzzle. She could probably manage a one piece jigsaw puzzle if given enough time.
"Face Plant" Pirro. Adam, that seems like a good name for Pirro.
Adam, it does get more undemocratic when they fail to get a true bill and still won't give up trying to get an indictment for something even most Republicans, under oath, would not pretend is a crime. As Allison pointed out, and you agreed, tomorrow will always be more undemocratic than today and by next week, this week's undemocratic actions will seem quaint and minor by comparison. In early 2017, I told friends, after observing Trump in action for a couple of months, that there was "no bottom" to the depravity, dishonesty, and illegality of Trump and his enablers (the entire GOP). They will always be worse today than they were yesterday and worse tomorrow than they are today. I think the last eight years (and counting) have made the truth of that clear. I don't think what I said was any kind of amazing insight. What it was was simple recognition of facts that were right in front of our faces coupled with my own cynicism about Trump and the GOP.
The only way I could have been wrong was if Trump isn't who he is. One thing we can confidently say about Trump is that he doesn't hide who or what he is. His depravity, dishonesty, cruelty, stupidity, and ignorance are always on full display and impossible to misinterpret. I don't think I have ever heard a truly intelligent person refer to him- or herself as a "very stable genius." Geniuses don't need to announce their genius, it becomes obvious over time, and sometimes it is immediately apparent. In Trump's case, his stupidity and ignorance shout their existence at levels painful to one's hearing. His lies are never subtle and the truth is rarely if ever difficult to find.
I will end this appraisal of Trump with two observations. First, I have said for many years that Trump is a person without a single positive attribute. No matter how hard I have searched, I can't find anything about Trump that qualifies as admirable.
The second observation is, I believe, and even better description of Trump. In James Fallows said "Anything that could be wrong with a human being is wrong with Donald Trump." (That is close if not an exact quote.)
Trump is a man who, if he weren't president in a country with the constraints he faces in the United States, would, I firmly believe, be capable of any and all of the crimes committed by Adolph Hitler and his Third Reich criminals. I don't know how interested Trump would be in the "master race," although he clearly believes in the idea with whites being the highest genetic attainment. Trump considers himself to be the "master race." If it were cheaper to round up immigrants of color and execute them en masse than to deport them to other countries, I don't doubt that Trump would be willing to do that. The man represents the absolute nadir of humanity.
While it's great news that trump's cases are failing, what does it do to a person's life to have to defend yourself against the *US government* -the stress, the fear, the loss of privacy, the abuse while detained, the humiliation, loss of income and everything that comes with that, your family not knowing where you are, etc? Will he and everyone else who is wrongfully detained after being kidnapped be compensated for their losses and pain and suffering? Equally important, will the lawyers for the government see consequences?
Yes @Nilla those are fundamental questions because lives are destroyed while litigation is in process; it must feel like a cruel type of limbo to be the victim in the system. Kilmar Albrego Garcia and his family have been under unendurable stress for years. He was tortured while imprisoned FFS.
Thank you, Adam this case has, been one complex matter. Mr. Garcia deserves due process like anyone else in detention. This makes me saddened by these detention centers! Especially about the children being locked up and getting bad treatment and food and Secretary Noem spending money on airplanes and everything else accept proper treatment for the children and detainees in these detention centers. My grandmother was a school teacher who gave citizenship tests for new incoming, people from across the pond or in Germany! Hey, Allison and Adam!! Danielle and Waj make an extremely convincing case for us being dogwalked into Armageddon by WCN led by Pete Hegseth and the rest of tthe MAGA crew. Is that really where we are headed via cosplay crusaders, to the end of the world, no joke, and there’s really no escape from nuclear annihilation? This is much more persuasive than “War of the Worlds” and led by hopelessly stupid zealots. It’s quite convincing and terrifying.
More than one Democrat in the Tuesday Senate hearing brought up the fact that Noem declared both Ms. Good and Mr. Pretti to be "domestic terrorists" immediately after their deaths as a way to, I suppose, justify needless murders. So, I'm not sure where Adam got the idea that no one is accusing Noem of making dishonest and unfounded charges about victims.
I think even the execrable Republican John Kennedy brought that up.
Is that not what Adam was referring to? What am I missing?
Adam, they couldn't call Blanche to testify for what I think is an obvious reason -- Blanche would either have to admit that this was a vindictive prosecution or he would have to commit perjury. Sure, he could have hemmed and hawed and churned out word salad, but a good attorney -- an Abrego has good lawyers -- would be able to dismantle Blanche's dishonesty and attempts to mislead.
The dream team!
Do you think the Trump regime thought there would be so much push back to the disappearing of people? Seems like they misunderstood the situation.

great time for a vacation, allison, it’s all your fault! ;-) I kid I kid
What happened to all the others who were sent that prison?

No more vacations for you, Allison
Where was she when WW3 broke out?

Laughing at pierro is not enough compensation.

You two have very complimentary skills and mindsets. Thank you!! Excellent truthful reporting.
Is there any country that does a decent job around managing immigration?
That’s a good question. In the UK we’ve failed miserably.
