I’m following this carefully and downloading the court docs. This case can be a defining case that can affect us all.

When will we see Abrego walk out of custody? I want to see that video!

That may not happen for several more months. You can be sure Trump Sycophants will do everything in their power to win this case. They will Lie, Cheat and make up stuff along the way.

He's free - for now - today, yes?

Yes for now. Have to get more details if he’s held in prison or really set free to be with family. I don’t think so yet.

Found this: "But Abrego Garcia will not be released from criminal custody immediately. The magistrate judge overseeing his case granted a request from his lawyers, made last week, to hold off on issuing the order directing Abrego Garcia's release for 30 days. The judge said he will continue to remain in the custody of U.S. Marshals" (https://www.cbsnews.com/news/kilmar-abrego-garcia-ordered-released-criminal-custody-ice-barred-from-immediately-detaining-him/).

This is good for now. Protect him from being kidnapped again if he is in public. You know ICE will snatch him again.

I agree this will be historic. I live outside Nashville so went to see the arraignment and detainment hearing and the hearing before Judge Crenshaw in the 16th.

Now there is a 30 day hold on Abrego’s release ordered by Judge Holmes. ICE/DHS has all but promised that if he is release they will deport him. I almost wonder if he will end up having multiple deferments on the release for his own safety.

The judges’ rulings show he is not a danger and not a flight risk. That has been made clear by both Judge Holmes and Judge Crenshaw.

Fanciful? How about "frivolous"?

It sounds like Cooperating Witness 1 was receiving instructions from the DOJ. The story about Abrego got bigger and dumber each time they spoke to him.

It must be a great feeling for Garcia to have succeeded in securing his freedom. I just wish I had faith that the government thugs in DHS & ICE will honor the courts’ orders.

The only issue is that the way this reads they could just ship him to Alligator Auschwitz.

I don’t think so as he is to be returned to Maryland and released from custody to ICE supervision, (as he previously was) not detention. Florida is not another country which requires 72 notice during business days. Not that Noem might not try it but as I read the order that is precluded.

I bet the fascists will arrest him anyway. That's what they did to me because they didn't like me. I presented court orders to law enforcement twice and they completely ignored them, arrested me and put me in jail for a week and let us sort it out by ourselves.

If this guy has any sense at all he will leave the fascist USA immediately.

“DHS has said in a recent memo that people removed to third countries would receive no notice if the government believed the detainee would not be harmed in the third country.” Seriously??? No notice “if the government believed the detainee would not be harmed in the third country.” And we should accept the Trump regime’s “word” that the detainee won’t be “harmed” (wink wink) if rendered to a third country? And this “determination” of safety won’t be made until after the detainee is gone from these shores, evidently. I can’t believe that members of the bar would have the lack of self-respect to utter that horseshit with straight faces.

During a week when I have been physically sickened by mounting evidence, such as video wherein Mehdi Hassan debates with 20 avowed young “groypers”, as to the pervasive sickness of a significant segment of our republic, I am heartened by the judicial orders granted to just one of thousands and thousands of human beings subjected to the torture perpetrated on behalf of the State. If only every one of these poor unfortunate human beings was receiving the extraordinary representation Mr. Abrego Garcia is obviously receiving - we could move to the next issue: how to address the pervading soul sickness in our republic. Thank you for your efforts, for your incredible work, as an expression of your humanity -
