Click the Immersive Reader/Reading Mode icon in the URL address bar (looks like a book page). This forces the page into cleaner, text-only mode that strips out the paywall popup (may show some odd graphic symbols & include bits of text from ads on the original page) - but I didn't see any real explanation for a reason "worse than you'd think" - mostly just restating medical reasons that I'd already seen reported when this Hegseth foolishness (waste, fraud, & abuse) was first reported
