They're not really loyal to Trump. They're loyal to "white makes right." Some of them do seem to be catching on to the reality that Project 2025 (which they probably never heard of) is shafting them as well as Black people.
In this case, my definition of dumb stands: it’s just plain dumb to think trump will not trash you when the whim strikes him and you will be toast (threatened by his gang of thugs?), not to mention when this is all over lots of people are, yes, going to federal prison, whatever their desperate delusions.
I think they are indeed power hungry and crave to be in the 'magic' circle but my take is that it's more about the money. These grifters have never has the ‘chance’ to be rich in their wildest dreams. Now, they believe they have that chance. What they never seem to get is that trump wants it all for himself — he never shares even with his family. It’s like the dummies who bought stock in trump’s crypto: he made millions on fees selling it to them, got out fast, and left them holding a giant loss when its value tanked. Same thing for truth social.
It should be crystal clear by now that everything trump touches dies. New Yorkers tried to warn us. But grifters gotta grift; his peons are all after that last big score like a bunch of drunk addicted gamblers.
Also, I don’t think dumb and power hungry are mutually exclusive but are probably mutually reinforcing. And we clearly are a nation of idiots with rampant unresolved daddy issues.
