Well, I was going to need a new car in a year or so and I was looking forward to another Toyota because I love my prius. I was hoping to get a Rav4 hybrid, but now, a CRV-hybrid. Check out Honda and their great diversity track record: Honda has been recognized, for the 3rd consecutive year, as one of the Top 50 Companies for Diversity in 2024 by Fair360, formerly DiversityInc.

The company ranked 35th, climbing from the 48th spot in 2023.

Honda was again named as one of the Top 50 Companies for Diversity by Fair360, formerly DiversityInc. This marks the third consecutive year that the organization has recognized Honda’s efforts. Honda ranked 35th on the list this year, up from number 48 in 2023.

Glad I chose the CRV over the RAV4! Now I need to find an alternative to Target…so disappointing!!

Costco refused to remove DEI policies.

Suggestion - buy less and

shop local. Like Mom & Pop locations…the little guy👍🏼!

We Americans are always buying way more than we need then cry when our homes are out of control with STUFF!! Do less with stuff and love those around you more!!

I am doing with less and shop the small local retailers when I can. It is so difficult in our area. Most of the small retailers have been wiped out by big box. Local hardware store that I prefer to shop at was bought out by a larger corporation couple years ago. It’s also further away but a 5 min drive or a 20 min drive isn’t enough to make me stop going there.

Thankfully the store hasn’t changed much.

My 2008 Subaru Forester is still going strong!

Frida's avatar

Wish I could go Subaru but i drive daily around two counties 5 days a week, so need a good hybrid. I miss by Subaru wagon!!!

I have a CRV hybrid - you’ll love it!

Sue paul's avatar

It's very comparable to the RAV now. I will check out a newer CRV.

Brian lewis's avatar

heard if you can afford it (do the numbers with a 25 to 50% tarrif) and maybe buy before Feb. 4th.

Frida's avatar

Yes. Well I still have about 110k miles to get to 300k on this car and hope to make it. So, wont be needing another car, I hope, for 2 years. But i’m thinking ahead

Elizabeth Ellis's avatar

Tina—I’ve been driving (leasing) Honda CRVs for at least 25 years. My latest is a CRV Hybrid. Love them now more than ever!

Frida's avatar

Thank you! I really like hearing this! Ihave never leased a car and wasnt certain of the benefits but I am exploring it. Its difficult to want to buy a new car when 80% of the miles that go on it are for work. So I think leasing may be the way to go (although I definitely put on more than 12k miles per year. Not sure how strict they are. Now just to come up with the down payment!

Ugh, bought my fourth Toyota – a Camry hybrid that I do love – in July 2022. So damn disappointed. I have two whole shares of stock but that will be reevaluated.

DeuceFlash's avatar

I bought a new car last year and I wanted to buy all electric. I’m #nevertesla. I gave up on all electric for now; we don’t have the infrastructure in place. I narrowed my choices to an Audi Q7 and Lexus TX (I’ve got to fit my g-kids) I was disappointed with Toyota, which I’ve owned since 1981, for lots of reasons and went with the Audi and I love it.

A pack of sleazebag AGs sent letters to COSTCO falsely claiming having DEi policies are illegal. Anyone in those states should be contacting their statehouse reps to demand answers and accountability from the AG.

Missouri’s sleezebag was one.

Nancy Ellen Maitri Peden, D.D.'s avatar

I heard that and I doubt. I had just showed a manager their 98% blue board the day before and now they are giving raises!

Average Jane's avatar

I don’t expect Costco to cave, it’s the underhanded tactics of these morally bankrupt gopers

The WA AG Nick Brown is going against the 19 AG's trying to get Costco to back down. Love it!!!

Maureen in Pa's avatar

I’d gladly be a Costco customer if one was near. I applaud their board for resisting such a move.

I don't know how they ship, but Costco does have an online store.

Those AG's should now be subject to Bar Association complaints and sanctions.

Ardograph's avatar

Add Ohio's AG Dave Yost to this. He wants to be our next governor (Republican... as if you didn't figure that out!). He's the same guy who discredited on Fox the 10yo rape victim who had to flee to IN to get medical care. Then the predator admitted his guilt (pie on Yost's face!) https://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/politics/2025/01/28/ohio-attorney-general-dave-yost-pressures-costco-to-drop-dei/78001004007/?tbref=hp&emci=017a3d2d-b1dd-ef11-88f8-0022482a9579&emdi=8327ce2b-30de-ef11-88f8-0022482a9579&ceid=141894

Dang! Tractor Supply! Lowe’s!!!! I have held them in high regard compared to HD! Ok, full on boycott! Start a coop/barter in our communities? We CAN do this, and to be a Pollyanna, think of the possibilities in building communities!

Shari Stowell's avatar

That's true, which is why I'm shocked to see them in that "committed" column. Bet they're not there much longer.

Nancy Ellen Maitri Peden, D.D.'s avatar

I'll check and ask. We can always cancel.

Pallas's avatar

I definitely would never have thought that, I wonder how that happened?!

Smirks's avatar

Makes it tough decision for buying horse feed-TSC (2 miles from home) or the DT-supporting owner local shop (10 miles).

Shari Stowell's avatar

Grit your teeth and go to TSC. Think about how expensive gas is about to get. Your truck's not a diesel, is it?

Absurd_dad's avatar

No other suppliers or coops?

I am a hospice chaplain and I drive a lot. I have loved my Priuses and was planning on getting a RAV4 Hybrid next. Nope, Honda CRV hybrid for me. I wrote Toyota and told them so.

Diane's avatar

I hope you will love your new CRV hybrid as much as I love mine !

Frida's avatar

Me too Diane! ☺️

Nancy Ellen Maitri Peden, D.D.'s avatar

Bless you. I was a bereavement counselor. 🙏🏽 Seeing you with good wheels. 💙 I almost became a chaplain at Naropa. Get something safe. 🙏🏽☘️☘️☘️🌟🌟🌟🌟

We got a Honda CRV hybrid and it's amazing!

Timothy Blevins's avatar

Writing was important. I need to join you because a RAV4 Hybrid was high on my list for a new car.

It looks like you have the in addition section twice, unless I am reading it incorrectly

Allison, it would be nice to see a listing of some major companies who have not, and do not intend to end their DEI programs. I would, and I am sure others would, like to spend more of our hard earned dollars on those companies.

Beth Skowvron's avatar

Check the Goods Unite Us app available for both Android and iPhone - it lists companies that support Dem or Rep policies. Plus, when you click on the specific company, it'll also list alternatives options.

Maureen Hatfield's avatar

I forgot to say: Thank you for organizing this list! Sending appreciation to you!

Nancy Ellen Maitri Peden, D.D.'s avatar

Great news. I ask now. Costco board rated 98% is giving raises!!!!! 😎

FingerLakesGirl's avatar

I called their corporate offices and was given the line about how they are just reflecting the conservative values of most of their customers. And so I am no longer shopping for my pet products there.

Timothy Blevins's avatar

I can’t figure out who you responded to. Please say who you are no longer shopping with. I have a fig and want to be sure I am not supporting MAGA with my purchase.

FingerLakesGirl's avatar

I am no longer shopping at Tractor Supply.

One of the panelists on 31 Jan Bill Mahr program said DEI should start at grammar school with comprehensive education for all. That way the field is leveled for all to compete based on merit.

Diane E.'s avatar

Kind of hard to get rid of my car, but will write to Toyota to express how I feel about their policies.

Bar Shirtcliff's avatar

We need another list of companies refusing to roll back their DEI programs, in spite of activist threats. We can start this list with Costco.

Trish Lambert's avatar

Here is a Google Sheet that I assume is being kept up to date. Lots more info here, both about DEI policy reversals and DEI policy commitments. It's changing my buying behavior.

Allison Please know - all you and Andy McCabe do for your un justified (and you on this substack) are so deeply appreciated. You both deserve virtual hugs. And I know this is not the Un-Justified spot but I have to do a major shout out and point out how so "SPOT ON" the new name is ---- especially for the episode dropped today Feb. 2nd. Brian Lewis Standing Up and Speaking Out. To me the Sound of Music story is a fitting comparison to the importance of standing up and speaking out.

Walmart actually has the nerve to be running a commercial with all black people including Boyz to Men. Doesn’t change how I feel!
