The base said "we will suffer to get the health care subsidies and bring Maga to heel." These filthy traitors sold us out, threw away all the pain our people have lived through over the last 40 days.

They purposefully chose senators who aren’t up for re-election until 2028, and a couple who already were stepping down after this year. Even though Schumer voted no to make it look like he held the line, he is responsible for this. There needs to be an investigation into who else was on board with being traitors but voted no, since they got the other 8 to fall on the sword for them.

Democrats are in denial of the fact that the Senate is no longer an independent branch of government, and will not honor anything they say, they have joined Trump's policy of dishonesty. No, more business as in the past!

The Senate is no longer a separate branch of government, it is an extension of Trump's power

Every Dem Congressperson must clearly declare what they do and do not stand for or leave the Democratic Party and let people have the office who will take Progressive stands very clearly. People like Schumer need to go. They are yesterday’s Dems, not the Dems of Nov 2025. New Progressives needed NOW!! Please step up and run!!

The government was going to have to open up because the banks were going to fail. They just had to hold out for another week or two and then the republicans would have had to negotiate. The republicans are not going to negotiate and it also looks like the democrats have been responsible for the shutdown.

I am so disappointed in the democrats that have sold their souls.

Exactly! I was so proud to march! Then we swept the elections, and I couldn't even enjoy the thrill of actually having hope once again. Sure, slap me down again. We've been down for a decade with this incompetent felon and every nation in the world laughing at us. Fear of success? What a shame, just a damn shame.

Also: yes about the airlines. I was a flight attendant for 26 years and have no retirement thanks to their bankruptcies. They are all gangsters and criminals and so are these senators.

Lesson - No politician or political party will save us. We have been abandoned and they have shown they only care about themselves and power. Democrats are no different from republicans, except less cruel, less unified, no unified message, and feckless. They have just wasted our wins from last Tuesday. They were in the drivers seat and crashed the car and blown up in flames. We are f*#ked! Au revoir democracy!

Ok in 24 we had elections and the Republicans took the house senate and Presidency! 7 Million people stayed home ! The Government couldn’t stay shutdown any longer! One hungry Children were not getting Snap Food benefits and Federal Employees weren’t getting paid! At Airports Air Traffic Controllers didn’t either! What do people expect from the Democrats! Trump and the GOP refuse to come to the table on the Healthcare Subsidies and even if it went through ! The CR with changes would gone back to house and Mike Johnson votes it down with all Republicans ! And let’s say got passed Trump would have veto it !

I'm a federal employee who got furloughed on October 8th. I expected them to hold the line, as federal employees have done.

If our Representatives had half the balls that you and other like-minded federal employees have we wouldn't have this problem right now. I was actually really happy watching people in my community come together to support people in need. And I'm still really awed by that. But our representation is tone-deaf , self-serving, weak and completely unworthy of our trust.

100% Federal employees have rallied and are supporting each other. We would have been fine. This was one big game of chicken, and the Democrats failed - again. Get rid of Schumer and the other fossils and remake the party from the ground up.

You are right Allison - here's spending in NYC:

New York’s oligarchs spent more than $55 million trying to defeat Mamdani and get Andrew Cuomo elected instead. With Cuomo winning just under 855,000 votes, that came to about $65 per vote. Total spending for Mamdani was about $16 million. With Mamdani winning more than 1 million votes, that came to about $15 per vote.

We really need to get money OUT of our politics!

If you are not a progressive then you are on the right wing, you are just left of MAGA. Fascism is regressive. Stop voting for and funding these establishment dems, they enable fascism! If they have taken money from Israel and corporations do not vote for them! We don’t need to wait for campaign finance reform if we are informed and support these grassroots candidates who are way more capable than what we got.

These are political arsonists who start fires and then want credit for putting out the flames after they've cut off the water and defunded the fire department. This is a kakistocracy.
