National Security Counselors has filed a FOIA on behalf of MSW Media to obtain the legal opinion from the DHS Office of General Counsel calling searches without a judicial warrant "legal."
Bravo Whistleblower. I have always thought there must be long term ICE agents who were proud of their work when it was actually tracking down criminal migrants, and who are horrified by what their job has become. Many may have quit, but some might not be able to afford to. Would YOU want ICE agent on your resume when looking for a civilian job?
Good luck Alison. If you need to leave, Canada would welcome you, as would Australia, where our local versions of Republicans and right wing populist whackos are in disarray and highly unlikely, for at least the next eight years, to have an electoral impact to worry anyone who is interested in the health and integrity of our democracy. Canada 🇨🇦 would be better because it would be a bit more like home and it has a government that is really standing up strong against Trump. Ours is still coming out of the denial stage of grief. So it’s not so outspoken; and we’ve got US bases plus a very politically controversial defence “deal” with Washington, courtesy of our last conservative PM. Edit: I just noticed this article from “The Guardian” on my gmail:
Hi James. I'm a U.S. based Western Bulldog fan. Do you have a Footy favorite? Best wishes to all Aussies. The majority of us who can rationally think (so that rules out the MAGA morons) hold you nearest and dearest to our hearts. After we flush this maga madness we hope you'll let us earn our way back to true friendship again. Meanwhile I'm fighting my own front here in Texas where our highest level "government" figureheads are whores who have been bought and paid for by 2 west Texas oil billionaire/white christian nationalists. So my hands are rather full at the moment. Take Care Friend!
Thanks. AFL is a great game. I grew up in NRL territory in NSW so was and still am a Dragons fan plus I m a soccer tragic and my favourite Aussie team is Newcastle Jets. UK? Definitely Liverpool. I like American Football btw. From what I read and hear, Texas is really swinging away from the Republicans, especially Latino voters? Good luck mate!
Earlier, I saw "The Break Downs" report on this. A short time later, I saw an email from Joyce Vance, former United States attorney for the Northern District of Alabama. This is the final paragraph:
"This is a deeply disturbing development and one we’ll be following closely. It is such a departure from established Fourth Amendment rules that it’s perilously close to open disregard for constitutional rights."
What? "Deeply disturbing." ???
"...close to open disregard for constitutional rights." ???
I can't comment on Ms. Vance's Substack because I am not a paid subscriber, and if this is the kind of wishy washy language she uses to describe this kind of news (if true), then I never will be a paid subscriber. I know that Ms. Vance is a nice southern lady (I mean that sincerely, it isn't snark.), but this is the kind of language I expect from the NY Times. Is this "disturbing" or outrageous? Is it "close to open disregard" or is it the very definition of the violation of constitutional rights?
Ms. Vance's Substack is called "Civil Discourse." The time for civility is or politeness is long past. The time for weak language is over. I have no objection to anyone, Ms. Vance included, writing or saying "If this report is true...." But that should be followed by that most unforgiving, condemnatory language possible. Being nice is not going to defeat ICE or Trump.
I subscribe to Joyce but hadn’t read her article before I saw Allison’s. Having now read Joyce’s article, it sounded to me like she was writing based on what she read in an Associated Press article, without having read the actual ICE memo. Maybe she would use stronger words if she had read the memo to confirm what it said.

Thanks for acting on this immediately. Can someone submit an action so this stops now, instead of months from now. An emergency action? Everything this administration does is illegal and they do it anyway.
Thank you Allison Gill! So important. ICE is committing many, many crimes against US citizens as well as non-citizens.
Yay, Allison. Not just a talking head, but a real, live seeker of justice and accountability. I applaud you!
That is awesome! I saw this a few hours ago...

You're on 🔥 we love to see it !
Thank you Allison! This is just insane!
Thank you for your incredible work to inform and protect us. These are dark times, and you bring light.

Most excellent, Allison! Thank you 😊

There are likely tons of us wishing to leave the US.

Good on you, this regime needs to be bought down - and soon

I agree with you completely….
Thank you so much.
Thank you Allison we need to see who is signing those adminstrative documents 📃! Subscribe to The Breakdown.
