ATTN: HHS EMPLOYEES

If you work for HHS, read this BEFORE you open certain emails

It has been brought to my attention that HR Directors at HHS have been ordered to revoke access for employees after they open and read the email informing them they have been fired.

DOWNLOAD ALL YOUR eOPF FILES, PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS, SF-50s, RESUMES AND ANY OTHER PAPERWORK YOU NEED BEFORE YOU OPEN THESE EMAILS.

Here is the text from an email that was sent out to the HR Directors today at 6:48PM:

HR Directors and Deputy Directors,

Employee notices are now being sent. We ask that you not revoke any employee's access until our OHR Immediate Office team confirms that the employee has read the notice.

Tonight, all notices will be released from the DAS-HR mailbox, and will include a notice signed by the CHCO.

Your HR. Center will receive a list of employees confirming they have read the message twice daily at approximately 12:00 noon and at 4:00 pm on:

• Saturday, February 15

• Sunday, February 16, and

• Monday. February 17

If necessary, we will continue to update you Tuesday twice daily. Please notify your local physical security and information technology offices to coordinate with PS to remove physical security access and the HHS Office of the Chief Information Officer on system access.

Again, do NOT open these firing notices until you have downloaded everything you need because your access will be revoked once you’ve read them. I have seen the actual email and verified it’s real.

Please share this far and wide, and with anyone you know who works at HHS. I do not know if this impacts other agencies, but it’s probably safer to download everything you need that you have access to before you’ve read any firing notice email regardless of the agency you work for.

Again, I’m so sorry this is happening to you. As a former federal worker myself, I know how hard you work and how valuable you are.
